Home may be said to fall into into two different categories. The purchase of a house; a place to sleep, a place to eat and a place to park your car -- or the purchase of a home; a comfortable, secure, inviting place which invites a sense of belonging and safety. Some experts argue that the purchase of a house is motivated by logic, while the purchase of a home is based on emotion. Occasionally these two worlds collide when the emotional center of the brain (the limbic system) has a conflict with the higher reasoning center (the neocortex) of the brain. Once the emotional limbic system takes hold of a perspective it can effectively bypass ones ability to make reasoned logical decisions. Just ask yourself the last time you were able to convince a loved one that the boyfriend or girlfriend that just dumped them should be forgotten and you'll get a sense of how overriding the limbic system is. There are times when emotional decisions are the key factors in making a decision. Likewise, there is something to be said for logic and reason. Thus, the key to making informed decisions is in striking a balance between emotion and logic. Hopefully this will eliminate the sinking feeling of buyer's remorse when a transaction is heavily swayed one way or another. My desire as your agent is to serve you by informing, educating and negotiating the purchase of your “home.” My easy, relaxed personality, comfort and confidence in the home buying process can alleviate some of the common stresses associated with real estate transactions. It is my goal to help you buy a “home” to enjoy life here on Seattle's finest eastside neighborhoods. |
